Driver Qualification
Our driver qualification
standards exceed the minimum regulatory standards of the DOT and
in most cases are superior to those of our competitors. To be
considered for employment with the company or our
operator/affiliates, our drivers must be at least twenty three
years old, have two years of all season tractor trailer
experience, and have strictly limited motor vehicle violations
and/or accidents. Each driver applicant must successfully pass
medical and drug screening tests. Each driver applicant's driving
ability is evaluated by the company's safety supervisors through
actual road testing and each driver applicant is evaluated by the
company's local business managers for character, attitude, and
professionalism through previous employment checks. Each driver
applicant's previous driving record is reviewed, as well as a
review of any criminal or financial problems.
Once hired the driver's
product handling skills are evaluated by the company's trainers.
If the driver's product handling skills are limited or lacking,
the driver undergoes a period of training and supervised product
handling to make certain that the needed skills are developed
prior to allowing the driver to make unsupervised deliveries. The
company performs on going evaluations of the driver's driving,
product handling, and customer service performance throughout the
driver's association with the company. The company's drivers are
required to wear uniforms to enhance their professional image and
that of the company's.
